I'm no parent but i;d research the type of possible damage that could be done if he succeeds. If there is nothing serious i'd lete him do it and experience the pain. The pain shoudl stop him if anything. If it would hurt him and do serious damage/pain i would hit him or show him a small scale of what would happen. He is clearly curious what will happen so maybe if you satisfy that curiosity he'll stop. difficult question
