Would you rather live next door to black kids who always smoke pot and breakdance, or racist white people who constantly use the "n" word?

That's actually a pretty complete list of stereotypes I've heard.

This is a spoof movie made by the waynas brothers, trying to get the 'message' about many stereotpyes
the porblem is the ppl who need to get the message, don't
by qwerty on July 14th, 2009
I remember that.
.
So... some people did NOT get the message??
by Arisztid on July 14th, 2009
well yes, not everone will
my point is some stereotypes have some basis in fact, I see it with my own eyes everyday
In the area I live in I can count on both hands and feet the amount of ppl who take responsibility for their lives and countless other who continually blame 'the man' for their lot in life
I judge ppl on their actions, but if you fit a stereotype, you fit, it not good or bad, just true sometimes.
I didn't put anyone there they do themselves

Some stereotypes do have basis in fact, often twisted to a ridiculous degree. Some stereotypes are completely made up, like the "all Gypsies eat babies" one. Also, "x" stereotype is not only done by the group it is assigned to.
.
That being said, it annoys me when someone of my ethnicity behaves in a stereotypical fashion. "Annoy" is an understatement because we ALL pay for it.
by Arisztid on July 14th, 2009
I would say that these stereotypes are only as true as people decide to make them. I have met some African-American people who buy into these stereotypes and actually perpetuate them [which Annoys me to no end.] I havce met many More African American people who do not believe that these are attributes to be encouraged, and can't stand the people who act the stereotype.
It is similar to asking if all white people act like white trash.

bookworm I think you have it backwards
stereotypes of all races, religions, creeds, etc are started by a usually inflated, exaggerated description of the specific group, sometimes it is based in truth
ppl don't act the ST, they fit the ST
Being German and Irish, I can tell you that us Mick/Krauts drink enough to drown, but that doesn't make everyone from the National bases, brainless alcholics.
The do drink more on average, tehn other Natl's
good bad or ugly, they don't act the stereotype, the stereotype fits their behavior

I would have agreed with you before I started teaching in the inner city. I have met parents and their children who think the stereotypes presented to them by the media are the Correct way to act. Students who do not follow the stereotypes are teased and called "white". I have no explaination for this behavior. I have only obvserved it.
