Honestly, if they did, we wouldn't know.
I would suspect doing so would be extremely difficult but I'm pretty sure they would use sophisticated tools that search and try to corroborate internet data with leads gathered from traditional police work.
This technology would probably be reserved for anti-terrorism roles but maybe extended to simple crimes as technology improves. I trust privacy advocates will fight for legal controls.
All our calls, Email, faxes, are being checked by the UK and Americans, key words will give them closer scutiny, Google Echelon. Crazy?
