Do Mormons believe masturbation is a sin?

    Just as there are symptoms of an illness, thus being able to identify what the illness is, masturbation is a sign of a more serious moral sin.

    Masturbation in and of itself is wrong, but more importantly, it shows that there is something more wrong in the life of the person who practices it. There have been many other answers in this section of "Mormonism Beliefs" about how masturbation affects the person, so I will not get into that.

    To SpecialEd: There is probably nothing wrong with the person, but
    there may be something wrong in the lifestyle or choices that the person is making.

    • Billons of people masturbate. A tiny fraction of a percent of those people commit rape or sexual assault.

    • This is appalling. What, exactly, is wrong with the person who masturbates? Perhaps you should ask your local clergyman/woman. I'm sure most of them masturbate.
      There is no viable, supportable reason that religious organizations condemn masturbation. The only answer we get is "we believe it,"without giving a credible explanation as to why.
      Why do churches give so much grief to people over something like this??
