Help answer this question below.

When Christians say that the Bible is the "word of God," how do they know?

    They don't know, that's what faith is- belief in something that cannot be proved. I don't think anything in the bible has been proved to be true beyond any doubt, yet millions believe it to be so. There have been a few discoveries of archaelogical sites etc, but nothing concrete.
    I don't think all Christians believe the entire bible is the exact word of god though, I know a few that don't.

    • True Christians accept the Bible as God's Word. Those professing to be Christians yet disbelieve in God's Word aren't Christians.

    • IN YOUR OPINION they are not Christians. That does not mean that they are not, there are many different types of Christianity.

    • I have to agree with answers101. There is only ONE type of christianity. I can expound more but first I'd like you to tell me what you think the 'many' different types of christianity are. Seriously I want to know what ya think! =)

    • What? There are hundreds of types of Christianity! Catholicism, anglican, baptist, methodist, loads of obscure sects that most people have never even heard of! Christianity is following the teachings of Christ, so even Christian Atheists are Christian.

    • I'd like to see a definition of "true christian". Seems to me , with all the different interpretations on the bible and many denominations, there isn't a consensus.Have his people call my people when he's got his powerpoint presentation ready.

    • Answers - there is a difference in disbelieving what you acknowledge as God's Word and disbelieving that the Bible is God's Word.

    • The word Christian literally means "Christ one", it says you follow the teachings of Christ, all of them, including those that say he is God, and that faith in Jesus is the ONLY way to Heaven (which means Christian atheist are not Christians).

    • Quite the contrary, it is authenticated every day. Whenever I read a proverb, and find it to be correct, that proves the Bible to me. Whenever I hear that little voice in my ear, telling me what is right, it proves the Bible to me. When walking in the woods, I see a rabbit run away in front of me, I remember that God said animals would fear me, and the Bible is true again! Faith is also a large part, but if you look, physical proof is all around you.
