Help answer this question below.
Nah. Answers give a lot more detail, so by default you can learn a lot more from the answer than the question, but also, the limited space you have for asking questions highly limits what you could learn...I mean, you don't always know WHY they ask the question, and while people here love to assume shit, you can't really tell if they're implying anything, if they're voicing their opinion and all that.
Sure there are some blatant questions that are actually statements or meant to piss off, but otherwise I think answers are a better way to go, since people can elaborate.

You're reading Not only confined to AB, one can tell much more about a person from the questions they ask rather than the answers they give. Agree? ;-)

On AB, a good point, Sym. In 'real life' it's somewhat different. But didja notice that the longer you play on AB, picking up on people's 'tudes seems to get easier. But sarcasm is still "about a bitch" to translate thru the net often!

Oh I thought you meant specifically ON AB. Man did I ever read that wrong.
.
Well yeah, real life is a completely different matter I would think. Questions usually imply a lot more so than the general expected result which comes as an answer...asking questions is a great way to deceive people. It can be so many things, so it's hard to know what kinda person they are...but you might very well get a better idea than with an answer. There's also body language that's really strong to go on though, and I usually use this to depict results rather than what someone says.
.
But yeah I did notice that, there is a pattern around here which helps to recognize certain intents, but that alone really doesn't tell me much about the user, other that they seem like an asshole lol. XD

Yes. The lack of facial expression, body language, an idea of general appearance, etc., all seem to maintain a 'wall' of sorts. It makes interpreting the subtleties of communication that much more difficult. In either 'world', tho', I think the questions people ask are a much more direct route as to understanding who they really are. More terse & 'efficient', maybe?

But I don't really see how answers are any less all that?
by Symbeline on July 1st, 2009
Well, with answers, people have a set 'framework' in which to respond. Topic already chosen; range of expression limited to that topic (or thereabouts). On the other hand, questions just come straight outta people's psyches. What their thinking about out of the whole world's range of possible topics, concerns, expressions, etc. No?

But it's the same with answers. Especially because it's limited-doesn't really give people time to think, therefore they can only be honest about it. Honest as in being themselves I mean, even if they answer a huge lie lol.

Yeah. I now see what you mean. I wasn't looking at it from that perspective. Food fer thought, Sym. Thx!
