Here are some real-life statistics based on SNORTING (yeah, yeah insufflation) Coke.
It's a derpy moment, in my book, to discount smoking Crack or injecting Coke as dangerous. Don't mess with the worst and you wont get the worst. Smoking and IV use are different than insufflation - they are both highly over-dosable and especially IV use can result in a QUICK and pretty uncomfortable death.
- I know more than a dozen users who have been "addicted" for terms ranging from 6 months - 30 years. Amounts ingested range from 1 gram per week to 3.5 grams per week or more. Everyone snorts or smokes, no one injects so I can't speak anything for that method.
How many overdoses in my test group? ZERO. How many failed Nuclear Stress Tests? ZERO (out of three). How many negative health consequences - well... Just like with cigarette smoking, alchohol, or fatty foods - a few. But those negative effects do not include heart attacks. How many lives destroyed? ZERO. I know a few dads who use, a mom who uses, a college student. Everyone I know who uses is middle-class or higher. The reality of use is NOT what derpy people tell you it is.
Human toxicity ranges, depending on purity and the body that's using it. Spontaneous cardiac arrest, arryhthmia, and heart attacks can happen BUT (BUT, BUT, BUT) generally only in RARE cases to users who happened to be allergic or have weak nervous systems.
YES Cocaine can cause heart attacks. The most important fact is that Cocaine Hydrochloride is a vasoconstrictor (it shrinks blood vessels).
The last poster touched on what happens in Cocaine overdoses, but here is a little more information to fill in the blanks.
- The vasoconstrictive qualities of Coke cause high blood pressure, which can cause bleeding in the brain, convulsions (the most common form of overdose), and heart arryhthmia.
- The convulsions, the pre-heart attack, are the most common form OD. If the over-dose was high enough, the convulsions happen so rapidly the body cannot regain consciousness (R.I.P.). I saw someone have Coke convulsions - no fun.
- YES Coke can kill. Should you say no? Please make the decision for yourself. Cocaine can be pleasurable, useful, fun, and correctly used in a normal life. Coke does NOT kill most people (or a vast majority) of people who use it, or who are addicted to it. The statistics will tell you just that (BOO-YAH!). Overdose happens, for Cocaine use, when BAD DECISIONS are made. Those happen when PEOPLE make the decisions, not when the DRUG makes the decisions (not so with Crack, Heroin, or Meth).
- YES it causes long term damage. Don't use if you don't want damage (BOO-YAH!).
Yep, Cocaine sure can give you a heart attack. Can you snort enough to have one? I can't.

@DenverYay, people think coke is lethal for a reason. I'm 18 years old and just got out of the hospital for heart arryhthmia. I'm a runner, and in excellent cardiovascular shape. No one in my family has a history of any heart problems. I'd done coke 8 times before with no negative effects. Yesterday morning I damn near had a heart attack, and the doctors say it's only by blind luck that Im alive right now. Don't tell me coke is harmless.
I didn't OD. I almost had a heart attack just sitting in class hours after I'd stopped using the drug. I'm so lucky to be here.
Denver Yay you're so full of shit it's killing me. Stop spreading wrong information. You don't know who you could be killing.
People, learn from me. I have permanent heart damage at age 18. DONT FUCK WITH WHITE.
