you are given a choice to either apply for an annulment or a divorce. you chose divorce. the marriage has been dissolved already. Now, if you are asking because you are Catholic and care concerned about the requirements regarding marriage in a catholic church then that's a different story. Most of the time when people annul, is either because of fraud, non-consummation, or religous reasons. Pertaining to the catholic church: if you are catholic and your ex isn't catholic, then you don't need an anulment, all you need is a civil divorce, and you could always remarry at the catholic church with no problems.
How do I go about getting a divorce or annulment in canada?

You're reading I was married to a man who was at the time an illegal immigrant. I have since discovered the marriage was a fraud and the divorce has been finalized. Can I still apply for an annulment?
