The power light on my Xbox flashes green and orange and I don't see anything on the screen when I load a dvd/game. What's wrong?

My Xbox powers up and the green light turns on, but there is no audio or video and the disc tray will not open. What could be wrong?

When I turn on my Xbox, the screen has horizontal lines in it until the Xbox pauses the picture, then it's fine. What could be wrong?
