On "Jeopardy" do the second and third-place contestants get to keep the money they've earned or do they leave with nothing?

    I just watched an episode where one of the contestants ended the game (before Final Jeopardy) with a negative balance. She was told she would go home with "an even $1,000", but unable to play Final Jeopardy. Nothing definitive about what 2nd place gets to keep -
