Do I need to add "Slick 50" to my oil to prevent "start up" wear?

    Depends. If your oil has the gear shaped logo with the words "for gasoline engines", then your oil already has the same chemical as Slick 50, along with a dozen other additives. Thus, Slick 50 will do what it claims to do, but it may already be in the oil you use. If you use a cheaper grade, then your oil has no additives in it. Adding Slick 50 won't hurt, may even help...but overall it's less expensive to use a better grade of oil.

    • Slick 50 contains PTFE, which is not an SAE approved oil additive. It consists of solid particles in suspension.
