Ripped off. Don't owners usually get the chance to make decisions? Also, I don't remember OKing this acquisition. I don't like it when people spend my money without asking me first.

    • That's why we have representative government. We put people in place to make such decisions for us. And, if you don't like the decision, you know to whom to complain.

You probably didn't get asked before the Iraq invasion either, did you?

    • Fair enough, and luckily the party I voted for in here Canada decided not to go. The party that is currently in power is not who I voted for.

While I understand your post, and recognize that my first answer is more of a gut reaction than constructive, I'll say this; just because I vote for someone, it doesn't mean that I agree with everything they do. My votes usually go to candidates who's platform most closely matches my views. They will never perfectly align. And I think this is the case with pretty much everyone.

In regards to the original question, my government has very close ties with the American government. We are the US's largest trading partner and form a symbiotic relationship. Unfortunately the situation with GM is one that I strongly disagree with. And I'm not sure my government had much choice in going along with it.

It should also be noted that I am an Obama fan. haha go figure. Thanks for sparking a conversation Phoenix. It's a nice change of pace here on AB. :)

    • Um... you're not even a U.S. citizen?? So that means you aren't a GM part-owner. How can you feel ripped off about something that doesn't involve you?

    • Because the Canadian government is also bailing out the automotive sector...
      .
It might be advantageous for you to read some international news before making remarks like that.
