I dont see how it could be a sin. It doesnt hurt anybody and is perfectly heathy. Besides if it were a sin just about everybody would be going to hell!

If it was a sin I am sure that the priests in the confessional would petition to have it removed from the "sin list" after having to hear 9 billion confessions a day about masturbation.

    • Masturbation is a wonderful Gift from God for all to enjoy with 50 health benefits and it clearly is not a sin in the Bible, that include the normal loving mental sexual desires that go along with it.

Most people have a great misunderstand of the word "lust".

God created all his creation with strong sexual desire and say it was excellent in every way. Strong sexual desire is God invention and God's design.

If you say strong sexual desire is bad then you are saying God design is bad.

Sex is not only for marriage. Many people never get married. Solo sex is for all people to enjoy for a life time.

    • Hey Inkaboutit, thanks for replying, I really appreciate that you took the time to read my answer. But to reply to this arguement, first of all, GOD made sexual desires and sex for one reason, to reproduce, not to pleasure yourself. Also, GOD made hormones so we would WANT to reproduce. Now, if you actually read your bible you would KNOW that fornication, masturbation, and anything else that is sexually immoral is a sin. 1 Corinthians 7:8-9 says, "Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I am. But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion."(NIV) And also, 1 Corinthians 6:18 says, "Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he sins sexually sins against his own body." And also, fornication is a sin because if you read 1 Corinthians 6:9 it says that adulterers (a form of fornication) will not inherited the kingdom of GOD. I have more to say.

    • I understand that sex and masturbation feels good, but GOD only made these things to make you actually want to reproduce, because otherwise you would have no reason to (Besides just wanting a child). Also sex is only a GIFT when it is with your spouse because GOD gifted us to find pleasure with our spouse who should also be a Christian and someone who loves GOD because in 1 Cor. 6:16 it says, "Do you not know that he unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, 'The two will become one flesh.' But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit."(NIV) From this verse, where it reads "The two will become one flesh" you can pull out that since it's okay to have sex your spouse, GOD also allows you to become "one flesh" with your wife/husband. I'm sorry for coming off so aggressive, and if you still have an argument, please try to prove me wrong, but remember, you can't go against GOD's word (The bible), and I have alot of more scriptures. Thanks

    • Hey you confused me, you seem to be a Christian and just an ignorant sinner trying to justify his sin. You may define lust as sinful desires, sexual immorality is a sin, and when people masturbate they usually watch pornographic material, which is sexually immoral. Masturbation is a sin man.

    • I'm very sad to see you thinking like that "Hands05".
God has nothing to do with it. 2009 years and you thing like a cave person!!!
By the way stop "placing" religion everywhere you feel like it!!
Do you believe that a person with a different religion can do it but you can't?
GOD DOES NOT INTERFERE WITH YOUR BODY!!
God is love, for you & others! That's it!!!
Masturbation is good & healthy 'cause it releases tension from your body & you can practice it in bed or wherever, whenever you feel like it!
There i nothing wrong about it.
If you don't believe me ask a sexologist and he/she will tell you the same!!
I'm tired hearing people think like that!!!

    • Hey, originally I wasn't going to respond but I'm only doing it for your sake. First of all "hot_vickey" do you read your bible? I see no biblical evidence to what you are saying, all I see is your opinion. Your main statement was that God doesn't interfere with our bodies. But our bodies are the temple of God, it doesn't make sense that God wouldn't interfere with it. Please read 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5, it says "It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the heathen, who do not know God." Please explain that verse. I'm sorry, but the sexologists may be right about it relieving tension but that doesn't mean that it isn't a sin. Matthew 5:28, "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already commited adultery with her in his heart." No one can masturbate without sexual thoughts so it is a sin hot_vickey.

    • Maybe if y'all masturbated you wouldnt be so damn uptight! If we werent meant to maturbate we would have been designed so our hands wouldnt reach! You have acheived one thing... if I was considering going to church I have no desire to any longer. If such a harmless thing as masturbation is against the "rules" it isnt anything that I would be even slightly interesterd in.

    • I see... What gets me a bit angry is the fact that you ANSWERED THIS QUESTION! The question was whether masturbation was a SIN or not. Sin is found in the BIBLE, not from your mind, so please don't answer the question with your opinion. Also, the statement you made was idiotic, "If we werent meant to maturbate we would have been designed so our hands wouldnt reach!" NO! Were we meant to kill? Were we meant to steal? Were we meant to lie? We weren't meant to sin, but as you can see, we still have the ability to do so. If we would have been "designed" so we couldn't sin, we would ALL be in Heaven. Now, you say that you have no desire to go to church, first of all, that isn't hurting me, it's only you. And second, if God WANTS to save you, trust me, he will, so go ahead and do as you please. I would rather you didn't, but I cannot stop you. And finally, it sounds like you aren't interested in Christianity because you aren't willing to follow the bible. You sound like EVERY nonbeliever.

    • Inkaboutit Homestead co reply: Thess 4: Taken out context. “sexual immorality” is not masturbation. It is using your sexual freedom from God to use it to join with a pagan worshipping prostitute to join in ferlity pagan god worship. This vs don’t not talk about masturbation at all.
Mt 5:28 taken out context. Vs is greatly misused and misunderstood by most. My web page explains fully. Misunderstood the word “lust” and the word “adultery”

    • Lev 15:16-19 also includes sexual thoughts and it is clearly not a sin at all, under the law and not a sin in the NT either.
