As a kid I visited a wishing well in Northern MI, the UP. I'd need to go back but my father can't tell me where. Do you know of one?

It's called the 'magic' of childhood....the ONLY time in your lfe where anything is possible, just a few short years...when a child asks outright you don't betray them by insisting logically why of course santa is real but equally why on earth would you shatter the illusions, mummy can handle anything, daddy is the strongest man you know, peopple are all good, you never 'feel' let down by your God, santa is real.....

Do you really want your kids to trust him like that?
by science_geek on April 11th, 2007
confucious: The real magic of childhood is the newness of everything, it is magic enough without there having to be made up things to dissapoint them later. But that is just my opinion. I believe that my kids will be better off in the long run because of it.

OK, who is the Troll that rated ne down -3 with no comment. Coward!
by science_geek on April 11th, 2007
Not me Hon :)
I do see your point Science_geek, but mine was simpley they're(kids) going to misinterpret the world & largeness of people( especially their carers & parents) anyway, why not make their general misunderstanding Fun, instead of under 5's are all helpless fools.
Leave their personal stories of how they were duped for when they know what that means, having already tested the theory in love and fun?
That's just my thoughts on 'it' tho :)
I wish you well & absolutely did NOT downrate you in fact added 3points
by confucious on April 11th, 2007
colnfucious: I have raised kids both ways and am far happier with the results of being honest with them from the beginning. They seem to trust us more and be better adjusted, but that is just my opinion. I did not think you downrated me. I don't mind being downrated, in fact I could really care less. The reason I always post when I get anonomously downrated is to expose trollnes. Plus I can call them the yellow bellied cowards that they are!
by science_geek on April 12th, 2007
I hope I don't screw mine up too much, I am generally very honest & direct with them I only fib about Santa, Easter bunny, & tooth fairies & they love the magic, & if I'm hanest so do I.
by confucious on April 13th, 2007
Who gave me the anomous -3? Troll, nasty cowardly slimeball! Fess up. At least explain your reasons for it!
by science_geek on April 17th, 2007
I agree totally. It may be a crude comparison, but like a drug - it's best to never start; you'll be glad in the long run. +6
