You're reading Who pays for a fence built on a property line when one landowner does not want or need a fence?

That's what I had to do.

When we lived in Nevada, we had some neighbors across the street who were feuding. One put up a fence on his line and then painted the side facing the other neighbor bright red, so the other neighbor put up a fence on HIS side of the line.

When I bought my house, that must have happened with the previous owner and my back neighbor, too. There was a 1 foot gap between her fence and mine, and you wouldn't believe the junk thrown in there! I had to clean it up and tear down my fence because of rats. They had home-made rat traps hanging over the fence. There were tire rims, an iron railing, lumber, peices of furniture, etc.! It took forever to clean it up.
