Plasma vs. LCD...
Plasma technology has gotten better but LCD over all has a better life span.
When a Plasma is about to die, it will first turn your picture to a bluish tint then it will simply got out.
When an LCD is about to die, the picture will slowly fade away until there is nothing left.
LCD has the advantage if you use your TV with your computer because it is able to display VGA better.
LCD has the advantage is you are using your television in a room which has a lot of light coming in (either sun or lamp(s)). This is why many flat screen monitors are LCD rather than Plasma.
Plasma is better for viewing during the night or in rooms that have little light.
For fast action movies, the plasma has a better refresh rate than LCD. LCD will give you what they call trailers (where the fast action may become a little blurry.
Longevity: LCD has approx. 65,000+ hrs of life as the Plasma has approx. 55,000 to 60,000 hrs of life.
Static images will burn into the screen with a Plasma TV but is not likely to on an LCD (due to advanced technology).
Power Consumption: LCD has the advantage here.
Hope this helps!
