How many sperm are able to fertlize an egg?

    Only one. Once it has successfuly penetrated the wall of the egg, a near instantaneous change will prevent others from doing so. Recent research, though, indicates that a single sperm could not do it alone. It seems to take the activity of a large number of sperm to weaken the wall so that one finally gets through.

    • Better read up on that first.. one is not really true, but is the most common.
