Help answer this question below.
andrewj54 is not an AB member as I can't find him in the search for members.
His blog in the link you gave lists a sample of nonsense questions that would make anyone laugh except perhaps the serious answerbagger.
He does not reveal why he paid a visit to the AB but he does give a clue at the bottom of his blog saying "There is nothing like nonsense. Nothing.".
Then everytime this talented blogger visits the Answerbag it is to find the very best of nonsense questions and answers.
It is easy to find them in the answerbag, unlike in other question answer sites.
Answerbag allows any question as long as there is a question in it - something I found out by loosing a few tens of points flagging questions as Nonsense.
The Answerbag has become the finest source for and the greatest repository of Nonsense questions and thus a huge laughing stock of those outside the Answerbag.
And we answerbaggers have conditioned ourselves so that not even a smile shows when we see these questions on an everyday basis.
It took an andrewj54 blog to make us wake up to what we are doing here in the answerbag.
Thanks, iwnit, for the link you provided and pointing out how the world looks at the answerbag as a laughing stock!
But we are impervious to outside criticism. We will carryon as ever before!
Did I make you mad?

Some seem to mourn the transformation of Answerbag from Q&A to what it is now. Isn't it still Q & A? How is not? Do you mourn? Why?

Is AB a question answer site, or a popularity contest, or a site for cliques? or all of it?

It seems that the AB land of "woe is me" is shrinking and the AB land of "glad to see you here" is expanding. Do you agree? Know why?

If you have a stake in something you work to make it better. Do you have a stake in Answerbag?

You're reading What was andrewj54 reason to be on Answerbag? (I haven't laughed this hard...)

Suby: thank you very much for your well thought answer!
:-)

I do not see the problem you see, suby: all q & a sites have fluff and serious questions. Usually you have to delve a bit to get to the serious stuff... I know that I do.
.
My general perception of answerbag is, actually, of a much more interesting environment than most because, while we have the same amount of fluff as all q & a websites, we do not have the troll and racist problems of most. Trolls and racist "contributions" do not last here.

You are right Arisztid. Thats one reason why we choose the Answerbag over all other Q&A sites out there.
But I do think we must learn the art of smiling and laughing at ourselves here in the answerbag.
We search for good questions that we can answer reasonably well, but fail to smile at those we can't possibly answer with any stretch of imigination we have.
I for one will not think of answerbag as anything less than a marvel of a telescope to look into the human mind.

+6 and I agree Suby, I can't even top this answer :)

Great stuff Suby. And thanks for the link iwnit! You've got to be able to laugh at yourself in this life and this was an excellent example! I'm just a little sad that none of my questions were on that list. Let me go back and look. Maybe I just missed it.....;)

Who is this andrewj54 guy anyway? Someone known? Or just some person with a blog?
by gtravels loves her life penguin on May 13th, 2009
gtravels: andrewj54 might very well be here in the answerbag with another profile name. The blogger doesn't reveal his real name even in his blogs. This way he could get maximum mileage from Google Adsense without letting anyone know who is hurting who's feelings.
by Suby the Coat on May 13th, 2009
Frankly, I do not care who he is. He is a bit rude but I have seen a LOT worse than that. I also could not care less how many hits he has to his blog.
.
I tend to be a bit serious but try to let myself laugh more and some of the fluff questions are hilarious.
by Arisztid on May 13th, 2009
Laugh more sounds good to me!
by gtravels loves her life penguin on May 13th, 2009
Arisztid: I think we from the answerbag must have given him some 25 hits to his page today.
Our contribution to him for the light moments he gave us.

That's the lamest collection of no-where-near-nonsense questions I have ever seen. This andrewj54 is a rank fracking amateur when it comes to nonsense questions. I've asked MANY much more nonsensical questions than the ones he lists. Here's a tiny sampling:

Yeah, you tell em Jim!! You're the King of Nonsense!!;)
by gtravels loves her life penguin on May 14th, 2009
I have never run into this guy/gal/whatever all the time I've been here. What outsiders think about AB and its members is of no concern to me. What one person considers "nonsense" another person may consider to be something very profound..it is in the eye of the beholder and no one but the person him/herself knows what is going on in the brain or the heart when responding to any question. Whether we're serious, or whimsical or sad because of some great loss one of us has suffered, we are family. That is key. We are family. I think those who would poke fun at us are simply envious and so they attack rather than admire because in attack comes attention. Just my opinion my friends. Happy Thursday! :)

And no, I have no clicked on to anything so this andy entity will remain forever an enigma to me. :)
by RosieGHM Jetpacker on May 14th, 2009
Jim, I went to all the 10 of your question you have cited here and answered them. I find I had already answered just one of them from the fact that the + mark against points is grey. I think all the questions you have here are most thought provoking ones, in my view. I gave answers that came to me as first thoughts, except for one for which I had to research - I didn't know about the TV episode on which your question was based.
You must understand Jim, that I do not answer all your questions because you have this habit of asking questions on US politics which I don't understand.
But I don't think you will be eligible for the great title: 'King of Nonsense'. Sorry.
.
Even the questions in andrewj54 will not qualify for the nonsense tag. But they could certainly bring out a smile on your face if you look at them in a detached dispassionate way.
.
We answerbaggers love these questions. These are what makes answerbagging such a dear activity to our hearts. Others will not understand us.
by Suby the Coat on May 14th, 2009
Its not that bad, Rosie. It did make me laugh. And to survive in the Answerbag we must learn to have a hearty laugh at ourself. It is only those who have perfected this art of laughing at ourselves have endured here. Others just dropped off on the wayside.
And I do think it is important for us to know when someone is is making fun of the Answerbag Community. Theirs may be prejudiced opinions, but see them we must.
So my request to you is to click at the link and have a hearty laugh at andrewj54's cost.
by Suby the Coat on May 14th, 2009
Suby & Rosie, I totally agree. The interpersonal exchange of the questions is what makes AB so much fun. Encyclopedias are great tools to get answers to questions, but reading them is seldom great fun.

Great answer Suby...
