Growling and scratching are common signs of anger or temper in a rabbit. IT is also a sign of insecurity and stress. Rabbits are ground animals and until they are trained, will be quite uneasy about being picked up by a large predator, humans. So it's important that you learn how to pick up a rabbit in a secure manner.
