syncope is fainting so I'm guessing here, but I'd have to say that you fainted from coughing. Is that what you're talking about?

    • My husband, but yes, he coughs and then passes out. He has been diagnosed, but we are told there are not any treatments for this. It's very frustrating.

    • "Tussive syncope is a rare condition that often responds to treatment of the underlying cause of coughing. Therefore, the workup and diagnosis of the cause is essential. However, at times, the cough is refractory to conventional treatment. The use of nebulized lidocaine in such instances may be an important adjunctive therapy-from" pubmed.gov

    • Just a suggestion, but you may want to find another doctor. People don't cough for no reason

    • Thanks...I am looking for a new doctor at this time. All they keep doing is giving him more drugs, but can't find anything wrong. Hey...I did give you +3, but they are not showing up...sorry.

    • Not a big deal about the points. When I realized that 12yr olds were ranked experts I stopped caring about the point thing. About doctors, I have known too many people who have been told there was nothing wrong and wound up having very serious problems. My only advice is to keep looking for a doctor who is willing to do a complete work up. If xrays aren't showing anything ask about an MRI, or a bronchoscopy, or an echocardiogram (it may be heart related, a cough is a common side effect). People have the tendency to think that Drs are Gods and take their word as gospel, but they are wrong a lot. You need to be your best advocate and go with your gut feeling. If HE thinks something is wrong, it pobably is
