What/who was served by the death-by-lethal-injection of Troy Davis? Certainly not justice. If not justice, what or who/whom?

Those who are opposed to the death penalty are perfect examples of showing mercy to those who showed none. How do they do that? Could you?

You're reading Death Penalty fans: what do you say to the fact that the death penalty cost around 25 mil per execution while putting one person in prison for life costs 600 thou?
Comments
I do think that 25 mil seems a little high but I have read articles that claim that the death penalty is not a deterant to crime and it does cost significantly more than housing an inmate for life

Deterrent or not, he/she won't kill again. And they will never get out of a prison to even think about it.

Anon, the death penalty was never meant to be a deterant. It was only ever meant to be a punishment. As for how much it costs you can thank the lawyers who waste our money filling appeals for the guilty to take our money for that one. And under your logic since it costs billions to house the prison population, they file apeals, and most of them are repeat offenders we should scrap the whole system since it's not a deterant and it costs so much.

Not even a punishment, but prevention. Yes, SOMEONE will commit another murder somewhere at some point, but they will never kill again.
