If stereotypes are untrue, where do they come from?

    its not that stereotypes are uniformly untrue they just aren't universally true. they are aspects of groups of people that other groups of people choose to point out. let's take one about people like me. tattooed and heavily pierced people are criminals. ok, some are but so are a lot of people that aren't tattooed or pierced at all. and there are a whole bunch of us freaks out there that have never done anything criminal.

    • Indeed. I've committed crimes and I've never been tattooed, pierced,... I've never even had my hair dyed before!
