I was on the same birth control pill for 3 years, and last month i decided to switch pills. I was supposed to get my period yesterday (my 1st period on the new pill) but it didn't come. can switching birth control cause a late/missed period?

yes. switching birth control meds means changing the exact dosage of the given medication; so changing the med variety will affect your cycles. It's kind of like 300 mg of Tylenol vs 300 mg of aspirin. They're both to alleviate pain, but 300 mg of Tylenol is standard where 300 mg of aspirin could make you very sick.
