Help answer this question below.

Why are people so offended by "bad language" (or "profanity")? I have no problem with anyone describing something as "f"ing awesome, for example (abbreviated here, I wouldn't in real life :P). Do you? Why or why not?

oh,yes. Especially if they don't know the difference between affect and effect.
