Have you ever had a memorable experience finding your way with a GPS? I'd like to buy one for my car but the really highly rated versions are out of my reach...are the cheaper ones a good idea??? Thank you.

The problem with GPS units are the need to do a reality check when using them. They give dependable directions to a point. I use one for work to make deliveries. As roads are frequently rerouted and changed. You might find yourself listening to the unit directing you to make a legal u-turn when possible if you deviate from it's preferred route. Or the screen may indicate your going cross country when your actually on a paved surface if it's not updated frequently.
As far as cost go. I paid $150.00 for mine. And I feel I have gotten my monies worth out of it.
