    They are polypeptides:

Chemical painkillers known as endorphins and enkephalins are produced naturally in the body. They are polypeptides, able to bind to the neuro-receptors in the brain to give relief from pain.

This is where I am confused. THe book says:

"By contrast, endorphins, which include BETA endorphin, dynorphin, and enkephalins , act as natural opiates...

beta- In chemistry , a prefix to denote isomeric variety ofr position in compounds of substituted groups.

      beta is confusing me.

I'm just lost on that one. I need womething written for a 5 year old.
