You're reading President Kimball once said that he is the liaison between man and God; however, 1 Timothy 2:5 says, "For there is ... ONE mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." Isn't this a bit contradictory?
Comments
Remember though the scripture 1 Tim 2:5 (Mentioned in the original question).

Jesus Christ is God. Part of the trinity...The Father The Son and The Holy Ghost. I see no problem in that either. Because Jesus is God and of God He does not stand between man and God.

I would just point out that, despite my challenge to do so, kona88 has never produced a reference to back up his assertion here. All that we have is his paraphrase of what he alleges President Kimball said. So, don't be so sure that this is really what he actually said.
