Question

Help answer this question below.

My Christian flatmate tells me that I will go to hell because I don't believe in Jesus. She also said my relatives are burning and being tortured in hell as non-believers. Is this what Christians believe?

Not all Christians believe that, in fact quite a small number do in my experience. My mum is a fairly strict Christian that believes you go to Heaven if you're a good person. I consider myself to be Christian but I don't believe in Hell at all, neither does my dad who is also Christian.
I had this argument with someone recently who passionately believed that anyone who did not believe in Jesus would go to Hell. I asked her if that meant that Hitler (a Catholic) would be in Heaven yet the Dalai Lama (sp) would be in Hell and she said yes!! That doesn't make much sense to me!
