W-O-R-K is a surefire money making scheme.

Oh yeah and stop buying crap you can't afford. If you can't pay cash for it, you can't afford it.

    • Work certainly is a cure for joblessness. I wonder when they will find a cure for idiocy?

    • Ppl who are that absolute in their opinions probably have not been laid off. And if they have, they forget what it is like when you're not working and can't get a job.
Other than that, the advice is correct. Don't put on credit what you can't afford to pay for.
It helps to keep that as a goal.

    • Except for the fact that when you buy a car, you usually CAN afford it. It's when you lose your job that you no longer can.

    • When I worked for GMAC they wanted to sell me and finance a car to me for a low rate and good price. I was working and had money and thought about it.
In the end I chose not to finance a new car, or a used one. Instead I saved my $ and bought a beater with a heater which ran for years.

I left GMAC with a clear conscious, and not enslaved to my employer.

I know everyone can not hold out for the right circumstances and so finance stuff - and hey, it IS part of American culture.
Maybe what I am trying to get across is that we do make these choices and although they seem safe, we can't read the future and know if we'll be employed long enough to finish the financial committment.
Good luck and hope you find a new job soon.

    • if you have not already experienced unforseen circumstances in your life, keep on living and you will! To assume that someone chooses not to work and thus risk losing their car or home is very small minded! I have a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology, have worked most of my life, am very good at what I do and really admired by the companies I worked for and was making a decent amount of income. So I tried that scheme and made a decent living, purchased a new car and house and guess what, when the business I worked for began to struggle due to all the county budget cuts we took a big loss; I was able to hang on for about two years afterwards but was recently laid off. So I am how facing the possibility of losing my car and yes, I am seeking another job but in the meantime the bills continue to mount. So DO NOT use sarcasm as a way of responding because if you really don't have a comment worth posting you should keep it to yourself and forget about the FREEDOM of speech crap. You know what else, Jesus loves you though right now I do not like you for the fact that your response is quite insensitive and rude. John 3:16 - He loves even the lowly and will save you if you don't already know Him give Him a try because guess what... I have a feeling you will need to know Him once you start to experience your unforseen...
