I work at a grocery store as a cashier. What are your biggest pet peeves about grocery stores so I don't do them anymore.

• Oh, gosh! Self-checkout can be so frustrating. People complain about how they hate it, but continue to use it anyway!
  
  It won't be busy, and customers freak out because they're too incompetent to use it. Most of them are simple:
  
  -Ring item
  -Put in bag
  -Ring coupons
  -Put in slot
  
  
  ...and there may be some problems and stuff because those things can be difficult sometimes, but usually it's common sense.
  
  And staying a while isn't always a possibility when you have a million other customers shouting for help, thinking they're more important.

• 1. It wasnt because we didnt know how to use them, we are not 'incompetent', and that view is entirely misguided :\
  2. When there are many other customers using the manned tills with they're heavy shopping, it is only logical to use the self-checkout tills for your light shopping
  3. They're not a million customers shouting for help, they're staff on standby dedicated to provide assistance to people who have trouble with the self-checkout machines.
  .
  So in conclusion, you are incorrect.

• At the store i work at many people expect the self-checkout to be faster. They get frustrated when it does not work for them. However, just like any computer if its not working its usually the operators fault(customers). self-check is not an express lane its an alternative. it will not be faster unless follow the directions. Or you know what you are doing.
