I think what's important to remember is that forgiveness is not condoning what has happened or suggesting that you have just forgotten about it. Forgiveness is done for yourself, to help you move on, to allow yourself to trust others again and to no longer be a victim. Forgiving means realizing that this person is human and has problems and is struggling in their life as well; thus you forgive, as a compassionate person ready to move on. You do not forgive so that you can allow them back in your life or because you think what they did was "ok".
