    I actually started doing that, a few years ago. It’s really not that different from working for someone else, as long as you make sure you’ve got enough to do. Unfortunately, I fell into the trap of letting a client lure me into a false sense of security and started treating them like my employer. As soon as the work started drying up, they dropped me and left my family with no income.

    Fast-forward 15 months: I’m still self-employed, but I’ve learned that I have to spread myself out a little more—not put all my eggs in one basket, so to speak. I’ve got one really good client that should probably give me about 20 hours/week for years to come, so as long as I keep making sure I’ve always got a few more jobs in process (and on the horizon), I’m doing just fine. :-)
