    • Well none of those things to me have been done by Religious people to me.
Last time I saw anything atheist it was trying to persuade Christians to not believe in God.

    • I seriously doubt that but you're free to think whatever you want for as long as it doesn't affect me which, in short, means don't do any of the things that I listed above. Coincidentally, you may wanna look again because all the above has - and is - being done in the name of a false god

    • That may be your opinion, but to the people that do them their God is real.

    • "trying to persuade Christians to not believe in God" is not hostility. And if it was, then the armies of Christian missionarys must outnumber atheist who try to teach reason by orders of magnitude.
      .
I've never heard of an atheist say believers will suffer for eternity, or wage war over some minor point of logic, or even stoop the silly levels of hostility available on AB.
      .
I can't count the number of times I've had various threats made by the lams of god.

    • QueenR: that's the point. It is my opinion and you (& all the likes of you) refuse to respect it. Why should I respect yours? I do realize that to y'all, your god is real, disturbing I know but it's your delusion not ours. We don't shove anything down your throat. However, even when their/your god exists only in your minds, you think and feel that you're entitled & justified to shove that down our throats. If we reject you, you're free to do whatever it takes from verbal threats to a bat to the knees but yet, we're hostile. Does that make sense to you? Does that sound hypocritical, biased and double standard to you or not?

    • Well being mocked due to beliefs are hostility in my book.

    • Rink was stating his opinion about god - an opinion well backed up by a conspicuous complete lack of evidence. There was no mockery.
      .
But I see you react to a perceived mockery as hostility but threats of eternal torment are just fine?
      .
Could we be approaching an answer to my original question? Some Christians don't see such threats and other harassment as hostility?
      .
I'm guessing - not trying to put words in your mouth. I am genuinely interested.

    • QueenR: feel free to scream persecution at any time...

    • Why would I want to do that?
All I was saying was that I know some Atheists who mock others because of their beliefs. I'm not saying they are being persecuted.

    • I see we aren't getting very far here :-)
      Cheers

    • Why on earth would I want to do that? Are you talking riddles or just plain crazy?

    • I'm talking in Bible parlance. You should be able to understand that with no problems

    • With QueenR, but I think Rinky's comment covers the reason why. If there is any hostility in atheists to religious people it is of the religious people's making ie there comportment, their hounding, their condescending assumption that others who are not of their faith have somehow got it wrong and they are right. This is what engenders hatred. If they just stayed in their own backyard, atheists would not take umbridge, in fact, they might even feel sorry for them!;)
