Oh Heeeeeellll no.
Even if I got to land in a 30' deep pile of crinkled 100 dollar bills and keep them afterward.
I went to Calgary a few years back and toured the olympic village. I have seen ski jumping on tv, but nothing prepared me for going to the top of the hill, and looking down that ramp, and into the landing area surrounded by bleachers. It is a LOOOOOOOOOOONG freaking way down. When I went to the bottom of the ramp to look at how high it was off the ground... Sure enough- I learned that it was also a LOOOOOOOONG way up in the air.
I got at the top of the ramp and squared up like I was going to ski down it (of course I wasn't even thinking about REALLY doing it, and it was summer, so it wasn't slick) but it still scared the piss out of me.
Is skiing on manufactured snow as pleasurable as skiing on the real deal? Any difference in feel or is the experience the same?
