There are three methods of scoring points in Rugby.

The try: Players much touch the ball down on or over their opponents goal line. They don't need to use their hands to touch down, any point on the player's body from the waist to the neck will do. A try is worth 5 points.

The conversion: After a try, a player must then attempt to kick the ball through their opponent's goal in line with where the try occured. If successful this adds another 2 points to the score.

Drop goals and penalty kicks: A drop goal can be kicked from the hand during play. The ball must touch the ground before being kicked. A penalty kick may be awarded following a foul. Both types of goal are worth 3 points.
