snow blades are very short skis very easy to turn and quick but at speed harder to keep your balance a longer ski gives you a lot of leverage you can lean back on the tails of your skies and go for the ride and ski like crap all day long you wont get away with that on the blades but a day on the blades will teach you where you should be standing on your skis. I believe the answer is skis would be easier, with or without poles
