Don't you hate it when you click on a link to a question on AB, but the question's been deleted?

Ok, I give up! That [mute] symbol next to a question, answer or comment here on AB; exactly what DOES it mean?

How is it that the most famous person on here will probably end up being Randy?

You're reading I am calling for a change in the culture of AB, a shift back to older times, we need to stop being so nice with points, DOWNRATE WHEN NECESSARY, who is with me?

Don't be so sure! ;) I am here only 10% of what I used to be, in PART due to the way things have changed and all the totally stupid questions I flag that I then see passed the moderators as "OK!" So I am here when I am here, but I have donated alot of good answers, and can only do that when there are good questions. I refuse to answer anymore crappy stupid 8-10 year old questions or fill in the blanks or questions that are no more than a "?" or a "Why?" Give me a break. Go back to Yahoo or MySpace or whatever people who ask that kind of junk. I came here to help and learn, not to waste time with riddles and totally without merit "questions." Call me a prude or a stodgy old man, but that's my stance and opinion especially if we have to put up with these new "floating ads!"

My attendance has dropped off quite a bit as well, it is time for us to take back the site!

I've noticed more people disappearing off and on lately, myself included. I share Braveheart's frustration about moderation but I'm pretty tolerant of poor questions on a slow night. I just pass'em by. I would, however, like to automatically delete the stuff that isn't even a question.

I am afraid if I were given a auto delete power, I would on some days and nights, delete 20-30% of the stuff I see and read; or at the least, I would like the ability to put it in a "Nonsense, joke, humor, non question" type of catch all category or section. But I don't see Joel giving me or anyone those powers. With all the new revenue from these stinking ads (I would almost rather pay $5 a month in dues!!!) if anything we'll be bringing all kinds of people on board here and I think things will continue to be very lax and the moderation will continue to be very liberal as to what is OK and what is not. I am not wasting time flagging any longer. They might as well turn that over to ChubbDaddy or Marshall M or people like that as far as I am concerned. Yes, I am frustrated and abit irked that things have slid downhill. I used to get alot of pleasure and good feelings coming here and making a difference. Not much anymore. And I'll miss you who are serious about having a good site! :)

Yea, I can understand the difficulty in judging someone else's question, but honestly some of the ones allowed on here are pretty obvious BS, and it just seems like the staff might be trading more members for credibility. This is turning into myspace, I suppose good for the staff (due to the success) but bad for us.

I have complained about that for weeks, Bob. Joel denies it or says it will go away or we'll get used to it. Read his "PR" messages in the Blog.

I have only read that blog one time, I probably do need to make a habit of reading it more, I'll check it out, thanks.

I gotta agree with you there, BHR. I was away for a few months and decided to coem back. I'm tempted to leave again because it has turned into a chat room more than an FAQ site. There were always some goofy questions but now those outnumber the serious ones and I have to really look hard to find questions to answer.
