Are people who itemize deductions the only ones who get audited?

    As far as I know, no. (Who can really say what the IRS does?) But there are certain itemized deductions that can increase your chances of being audited, such as taking a deduction for a home office. This deduction is so often abused and misused that the IRS takes a special interest in it. Even so, the majority of people taking that deduction don't get audited. In fact, the IRS usually only audits about 2% of all returns.
