How can I most effectively distribute my promotional products?

    One way to effectively distribute promotional products is at a trade show. For instance, due to my husband's position in the trade show industry, I have noticed the following things:

    The Chicago Auto Show, one of the largest trade shows in the country, has vendors with booth space relating to cars in some form or fashion. Tire dealers; car waxes; chrome polishes; remote-control vehicles; gasoline/oil companies; auto dealers; accessories; etc. The people that come to the auto show pay to get in so presumably they are interested in the subject, cars. Passing out promotional items to tens of thousands of people from all over the area and from all walks of life, over the course of the show, can get your name out there in the public quickly. Depending on what the product is, you can keep that working for you. As an example: If you are handing out bumper stickers with your company name on it, some of those people are probably going to put the bumper sticker on their vehicle and you now have travelling advertisement.

    Fancy Food Show - (also Chicago - sorry) - Thousands of restaurants and manufacturers of specialty foods are at this show along with companies that offer new gadgets for the kitchen, etc. and the people that attend are interested in that particular subject.

    Taking that idea, it makes sense to me to distribute promotional items for your company or product where you already have an audience interested in the subject.

    New Restaurant? How about downtown at lunch time near multiple offices.
    Car Parts Store? How about a racetrack near your location, local trade school offering courses in automotive repair, etc.

    I hope this gives you a few ideas.
