Baking soda sprinkled liberally in your shoes is an excellent way to keep your shoes odor free. If your running shoes are just worn casually on a day to day basis, then washing them with Febreeze for laundry and letting them air dry is a good idea as stated. However, if you wear your running shoes as I do, for distance running, marathon training, etc., do not wash them in the washing machine. Washing them can begin to cause a break down in the fit of the shoe, they can stiffen, etc. and can cause blistering and soreness. (I learned from experience unfortunately). I have found that baking soda helps keep my feet and shoes odor free and also seems to help with excess sweating, keeping my feet drier.
