Is it possible to become pregnant if intercourse is on day 22 of the menstrual cycle?

    It's very possible to become pregnant on the 22nd day of the menstrual cycle, if that's when ovulation occurs.

    Although we are often told that ovulation generally occurs on day 14 of a 28 day cycle, in actuality there is a wide variation in when it occurs. One study showed that only 30% of women ovulate between days 10-17, with many ovulating sooner, and others much later. This study also revealed that there is a wide variation in ovulation even for women who have regular cycles.

    To avoid pregnancy, contraception needs to be used every time intercourse occurs. For someone having difficulty becoming pregnant, there are kits available at most pharmacies that will help determine when ovulation is actually occuring. There are also ovulation calendars available on the net, but don't rely on one that only uses menstrual dates. To be most accurate, an ovulation calendar needs to chart basal temperature and some of the other physiological changes that occur during the menstrual cycle.
