Many attorneys will offer to sit "second chair" (assist another attorney at trial) so that they can gain experience. Research is also key. Attorneys will study other lawsuits by utilizing legal resources available to them like WestLaw, LOIS, and LexisNexis. Frequently they will be in close contact with medical personnel that are familiar with mesothelioma and gain information that way that will be useful to them.

    Many attorneys that practice in the field of personal injury have staff members that have some medical background to help wade through the medical files of clients and prior to trial, they basically do their homework. They study, ask other attorneys, look at other cases that are similar to the one that they are handling, etc.
