Help answer this question below.
I am not a coat but a fellow AB who has sent out the call for help at one point and let me tell you it was very easy and very swift, at least when I was able to get back on any way, to make a long story short someone DR my account very badly out of anger and put me in PB box by mistake, when I got out I put call out to a COAT and my badly damage account was quickly rescued, really great bunch of folks each and every one I have had the pleasure to meet.
It is my honor to have a few of them on my friends list and know that they are always there for me.
But for those who need one you can just about pick any subject and find a COAT and leave a message in the comment and if they can help they will.
I quite like the idea that the COAT's have, what would I have to do to become one of them?

Do you think COATs are the nerds and or 'goodie-two-shoes' of Answerbag? (I'm not saying I think this or anything...)

What are COATS in AB, and why do they ask "to celebrate" by uprating whenever one achieves it?

You're reading Many people ask "how do I reach a COAT" (plus other COAT questions). My question is mainly to the COATs (but not exclusively for COATs): what is the best way for you to be reached by anyone wanting to ask you a question, for help, etc?

I consider all positrolls to be just as great as a COAT. I was COATIng long before the COATs came to be. In fact I am currently penning a piece that I shall be handing out to folks who ask. It is not nearly done but here is part of it:
.
d. All positrolls are great. Many, many, many 'baggers are not COATs. They do the exact same "job" on the 'bag that we do and deserve the exact same respect that you would show a COAT, if you, indeed, respect a COAT for positrolling (some folks do not approve of positrolling for various reasons).

I still smile at your name, by the way. I am expanding my geekdom as well. I just learned the basics of DIV coding with some help from BigDaddy and spiffified my profile *hint hint you-wanna-see hint hint*

Very nice, glad I can bring a smile. maybe some day I will get brave and work on my profile, my instructor is wanting me to learn html more any way start web site with all my "How to sheet" on it, I just can't get brave enough. My son-in-law will design it for me I just have to maintain it.

Thankyou. :D I am not done with it (I am never done, of course) but I think it is coming along nicely. I am a bit OCD in some ways. This is one of them.
.
I am nowhere near nerdship in computers (I wish I was). I am still at the "oh my Gawd its a VIRUS" and "what does THIS mean??" stage, utilizing the Keysha v.1 via the following route:
.
me: *panicked look at the computer, glance in fear at Keysha, look back at computer* What is it doing NOW??
the Keysha v.1: *sighs* Hand it here. *pokes a few keys and viola! whatever it is doing is fixed*
me: erm, thankyou. Did I do something stupid again?
the Keysha v.1: *rolls eyes* Not you, dear.
.
I have tried but I have PTBTD... post traumatic Boot Trojan Disorder. Ever since I had a computer that caught dumador.bt I get a bit wonky whenever anything odd goes on with the thing. Dumador destroyed a computer of mine.
.
If you ever want to learn some basic HTML that works on AB (not all does), I have started another AB project:

.
It is just beginning though.

Oh one of the funny things about Keysha is she says that I have "taste like a Gypsy." She says that even if she did not know I was Roma that how my various pages screams "Gypsy" in things like colors and decorations, even if you remove the Flag and whatnot.
.
I have been told that before. Does that mean that I am stereotypical? *rolls eyes*
.
I always smile when I see your name and remember what it means. :)

I think I would have to agree with Keysha some how it just comes though, its what we love about you, I have bookmarked pg and will check it out closer. I can take apart PC, find software, and many other things but still not brave on this one item so maybe soon.

I guess there is good reason I have tastes like a Gypsy... I wonder why. ;)
.
Keysha's training is very out of date. She got her degree in '99 so all of this stuff is new to her but the one thing that stuck with her is lack of fear. Her teachers encouraged her to touch, take apart, question, and not be afraid. So, if she does not know something, she is not afraid to open a case, pull things apart, poke and prod.
.
I, on the other hand, will not open a computer case for any reason.
.
Our toshiba laptop just kaputted, blue screen of death, she was not trained, obviously, in laptops at all. So she did what was, to me, a miracle: she found out what the problem was. She went online, took some time, and found that a bad RAM chip will do it. The toshiba has two Ram cards and so she found out which one was bad. So, she did this with NO fear, and we now have the toshiba going on less Ram, but going.
.
To me even the thought of that is terrifying. Keysha has a standing offer for me to help me learn. I might some day.
.
I really have PTBTD though. Whenever a virus comes up I, well, flip my widget.

I think back to 3-4 yrs ago and to the fact that I had never touch the inside of a PC much did software, tech work etc and now I am a TA in class it truly amazes me what I have learned, my instructor pushes me as he has more faith some times than I do in myself. I think what are you doing you old granny and then I look around at the folks who are much older than me in class and shake my head and manage to keep on learning more. so far software is my thing but will try to be brave and learn others

I am afraid of fubaring things and I have a horrid memory. I really wonder at my ability with memory interfering with learning. That is one reason I am so reticent to learn PSP. I need to be told repeatedly how to do things because I, literally, have brain damage (head traumas). It is hard to realize that you need to be told things repeatedly when you used to retain much more readily. With PSP my dyslexia kicks in too.
.
The few times I have agreed to let her try to teach me PSP it is so embarrassing that I have to be told repeatedly where to find various things.
.
I am amazed when Keysha just opens up a tower or even the case to a laptop (that is even more impressive) and is not afraid to delve into the thing.

But in her eyes you are perfect and thats what makes you relationship so great, I love hearing about you two. She sounds like one very sweet lady and you my friend are one very special man also

I think we have a good thing going on. :)
