Every living thing, including human beings, has an in built body clock. It is located at the front of the brain, and it allows you to estimate a certain length in time. The presence of an internal body clock has been proved numerous times. One of the first was done by Michel Siffre, a French Scientist. During his study of caves, he decided to live in a cave for two months, to see how it effected your body clock. Proving the existence of your body clock can be done by simply timing something in your head. Without an internal body clock, you would have no concept of time passing.

A biological clock can be very accurate. Looking at a clock face on the 23rd minute of every hour may be due to habit. Your internal clock may be measuring an hour, and subconsciencely telling you to look at the clock at a certain time. The same way your subconscience tells you its time to wake up, or eat at certain times in the day. The more you do this, the more conditioned your body will be, and the more accurate you will become. This can be tested. Set your alarm to wake yourself at 5am every morning. Do this for 22 days, and then on the 23rd day, turn of your alarm clock. You will still wake at 5am even though you have turned you alarm off. This is due to conditioning. I'm sure many people can relate with this, by waking early on weekends, even though you have turned of the alarm. Your 5 days a week of waking at 7am has conditioned your body to it.

Thanks for the positive comment. Being a scientist, I would have to say that a high frequency view towards a certain position on a clock face, i.e. 23rd minute, is purely chance. Although looking at the same number is highly improbable, it is still possible.

    • Useful, thanks! Your hypothesis similar to mine, but isn't it odd that 23 is a common # for those who experience this phenomena

    • Most likely becausae your mind is prejudged to notice the 23s, because you are hunting it. You're subconsciously selecting/noticing the evidence to fit your hypothesis. This influences people more then they imagine, I believe there was an experiment where two genetically idential rats were sent to two labs, one lab was told theirs was slow, one told theirs was fast, and it resulted in the 'fast' one reporting faster average times then the slow one.
