Why isn't rally racing more popular in the USA?

    The major difference between Rally racing and other styles is the lack of head-to-head competition and race fans in the USA like competition.

    The sport isn't too popular here because there's no media coverage, and because the races are driven one car at a time.

    The USA for the most part is a oval and drag racing scene.

    Rally Racing starts at a uniform point, each competitor enters the track after an interval, meaning there's no danger of the cars careening into one another or blocking the track and causing further pile-ups. Given the tight turns and narrow tracks in a typical course, this policy solves a lot of potential problems. This doesn't mean that there's no competition, however: Each stage of a Rally is timed and the shortest total time for the whole rally determines the winning team.

    • I personally feel that rally racing is more competitive and more exciting than oval anything could ever be. Even the wrecks are more spectacular most of the time. I hate watching most oval racing of any sort. I prefer rally or formula 1 or...
