idk ive heard that the stars represent an astronomical gravitational pull that directly and indirectly affects the force and linear acceleration of the ping pong ball. The more stars that are present on the ball, the greater the potential velocity. The less stars represent a lesser velocity because the potential energy is never able to reach full kinetic energetic potential.
