The answer to that question has always been under debate. Moses' first wife was tzipporah, Jethro, the priest of Midian's daughter (that the stuff that they mention in "The Ten Commandments".

Later, when she died, there is mention of Moses having an Ethiopian wife. It is said that Moses' siblings said bad things about her. There is debate as to whether...

    1. This was his second wife - Meaning Aaron and Miriam spoke badly of her because she was Ethiopian, and therefore not Semetic.

    Or

    2. It was a way of describing tzipporah as exotic and beautiful (Rashi, a biblical commentator offers this idea). - Meaning the bad things were said about the way that Tzipporah looked.

Most Hard core religious folk like to believe that Moses did not take a second wife, but there are still people who say that the bible clearly state that he did.

Like most biblical mysteries, it comes down to taking what we do know and believing what you feel to be correct.

    Hope this Helps,
    Tiff

    • There is no scriptural or non-canonical evidence of a second wife.
