Help answer this question below.

I bought a 4 week old kitten from a breeder, but she misses her mother. Is there anything I can do for her?

    Four weeks is a little young for a kitten to be taken away from its mom. Usually kittens are removed at eight weeks, sometimes six, but rarely at four.

    My suggestion is to get a soft heating pad. The kitten will want to curl up in a heated place to feel like she's still lying next to her mom.

    Other than that the best thing to do it to become her surrogate mother. Make sure you give her lots of attention let her rub up against you and sniff your hands a lot to get used to your smell. Hold her as much as she wants you to, and let her curl up next to you at night.

    Something that has worked wonders for me is singing a lullaby. I did this when my cats were babies and now, whenever they are upset, or afraid, I sing that same song and they feel safe.

    As weeks pass, your kitten will start to miss her mother less and less, but remember, four weeks is still a very young age, so do all you can to give her as much love and care as human parent can!

    • Very good info,but why would anyone (breeder?) separate a kitten from it's mother that young? NOT GOOD unless urgent/vital!

    • I am appalled that a four-week-old kitten was sold off. That poor thing shouldn't be away from her mamma at such a tender age. One other thing to note is that she may find your heartbeat comforting. If you can't be there, stick an analog clock (one that ticks) in her bed.
