Savvy webmasters do know. The problem is that anyone can be a webmaster - or web designer. Just because you know html code doesn't mean you know good design from bad.

    • But what about those of us who find light-on-black EASIER to see, especially old-school bright green? I suffer horribly here at AB because of the white background.

    • chalkboards are reflected light and at more of a distance than a computer monitor. I can read entire ebooks with black lettering on light background, but only manage a page or two of white on dark background.

    • That's you. We are all different. I am a little more photosensitive than most. A few years of night jobs and not seeing sunlight for days/weeks at a time can do that. I usually have the brightness of my monitor as low as it can go with just enough contrast to make the screen visible.
