FYI: And last but by no means least, they are considered "illegal" only because the United States broke the promises made in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo at the end of the war in which we basically stole half the territory of Mexico and made a paltry payment for it. The treaty provided that the citizens of both nations had the right to pass freely back and forth across the border "forever." A properly signed international treaty is the law of the land according to our Constitution, and yet our Congress had no hesitation in passing laws to declare that passage "illegal", thus violating the treaty. So in reality, it is the Mexican immigrants who are legal and our own government that is breaking the law.
